Infrastructure Development Act |
 |
To attract industrial investment by creating physical infrastructure, the AP government will bring in legislation called the Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Development Enabling Act. This was decided in Cabinet meeting.
This new bill would create Infrastructure Authority and Conciliation Board. The Infrastructure Authority is formed to quicken the project delivery process and thus avoid the procedural delays witnessed so far. The conciliation Board is a deemed judicial institution with civil court powers to be headed by a retired High Court judge to settle disputes. This draft would be finalised after further discussions. It would also provide for involvement and participation by private parties in all the stages of the venture-design, finance, construction, operation and maintenance.
The Cabinet decided to allow flexibility to District Collectors to enable them to overlook the rigid rules and take up digging works under Neeru-Meeru programme.
